Hey guy's this is my first blog post ever, and I really don't know what to right about. But I have to start somewhere!
The nation-at-large first awoke to the notion of Appalachian feuding thanks to this 1885 New York Times . Entitled “The Kentucky Vendetta” the piece recounted a spat that arose over a charge of horse thievery. The writer contended that when the courts were unable to provide appropriate redress, the Underwood and Holbrook families picked up their rifles and pitchforks.
Tell us more about that feud. How long did it go on? How did the news get all the way to New York? What was the reaction in the North?
